Mentors

Dear Mentors,

I am delighted to be able to welcome you to the SelmaMeyerMentoring programme as a mentor. Mentoring is today a recognised tool to effectively support early career researchers in their professional advancement and personality development.

To this day, particularly women must overcome countless obstacles on their path to a professorship or comparable managerial position. Different expectations are made of them than their male counterparts and they are often more self-critical. It is thus all the more important for mentors and role models to accompany them in their career planning.

The SelmaMeyerMentoring programme offers mentees and mentors a safe space in which individuals with different experience can meet and share their expertise. This exchange is characterised by mutual  recognition, solidarity, confidentiality and appreciation.

As a mentor, you directly support HHU’s work to achieve gender equality and contribute decisively to the advancement of female early career researchers, who pursue their professional goals with immense motivation and confidence.

As patron of the SelmaMeyerMentoring programme, I would like to thank you for your commitment and wish you an enjoyable time working with a mentee.

Prof. Dr. Anja Steinbeck
President of the Heinrich-Heine-University and Patron of the SelmaMeyerMentoring-programme
