Mentees
Welcome to the SelmaMeyerMentoring-Programme
Dear Female Researchers,
Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf offers excellent conditions for early career researchers. You will find an outstanding research setting here, can establish (inter)national networks and receive support to further your career.
During the doctoral phase, you face the challenge of gaining qualification as a researcher and teacher. You develop your personal research profile independently and on your own authority, must adhere to the rules of good scientific practice, assume teaching duties and participate in academic self-governance. It is also during this phase that you will develop an individual, effective work style to handle the many tasks assigned to you and learn to make your own successes tangible.
With its focus on a university culture in which gender equality prevails, the SelmaMeyerMentoring programme contributes significantly to this. Our mentoring programme provides support and suggestions as well as extensive feedback on your strengths and potential – from other mentees, your mentor and advisors both internal and external to the university. Acquiring and differentiating between key skills as well as expanding your network will allow you to confidently assume the various roles required of a researcher.
Participating in the SelmaMeyerMentoring programme will help you to hone your awareness of your own talents and resources for a university career and to focus your attention on concrete opportunities that HHU and other universities offer.
Please take advantage of these opportunities, network with other aspiring female early career researchers and learn from the successes of established mentors!
I wish you every success for your participation in the programme and look forward to meeting you in person at the annual reception or a network meeting in the near future.
Prof. Dr. Anja Steinbeck
