Medical Doctors

Medical doctors pursue a very different career path to other faculties. Many medical doctors already begin pursuing a doctorate during their studies and must sometimes juggle professional obligations relating to their specialist training that are not always compatible with the pursuit of scientific interests.

The SelmaMeyerMED+ strand has been established within the SelmaMeyerMentoring programme to cater specifically to the needs of female doctors. All female doctors working in science or scientists conducting research in the medical field who have already completed their doctorate are eligible to apply. This programme runs only in German. If you are an early career postdoc (within your first three years) you may apply for the SelmaMeyerWISS programme.

The programme runs for 18 months. During this time, mentees participate in a series of mandatory events that accompany the mentoring process. One-to-one mentoring gives them the opportunity to discuss any questions they may have directly with their mentor. Mentees should learn to network both within the group and during the network meetings. The SelmaMeyerMentoring programme additionally includes a variety of skills workshops during which mentees can develop their key skills.
